Sandy Bay Views
Finalist, 2018 HIA Awards
Renovation/Addition over $400,000
Merlin Constructions were approached to be part of this negotiated project to renovate a 1970s four-story house. The existing house had good structural integrity however, was rather tired and in need of a modern look.
Preston Lane architects developed a thoughtful design to extend the house to maximize the sun, space and views down the river towards the city. The whole house was renovated in addition to additional space afforded to the kitchen, dining and living areas. The clients had a particular focus on taste and functionality for this renovation.
The finished construction boasted a combination of structural steel, timber framing and large areas of glass. In addition to these structural elements, the use of elegant joinery, American Oak floors and exquisite tiles, the 1970s build is today a striking Sandy Bay head-turner.
