Battery Point Boat House
Finalist, 2020 HIA Awards
Custom Built Home $500,000-$750,000
The site was created by the subdivision of our client’s property, to form a new allotment of approximately 350 square metres. Our clients wanted a contemporary home of modest proportions in harmony with the style of older homes in the highly sought-after suburb of Battery Point.
This design showed much character and restraint in bringing the outside Derwent River views into this suburban boathouse. The largest challenge faced by architect and builder was designing and constructing on this extremely narrow block of less than 9m width.
The construction of this two-story house incorporated polished concrete slabs, stylish bathrooms with modern finishes, a contemporary galley kitchen and private but inviting deck. The client is delighted with their land-based boathouse, tucked away in historic Battery Point. Understated and thoughtfully crafted, this is another distinct build that our team takes immense pride in.
