Coal River Residence
Merlin Constructions were approached by the Architects at 1+2 Architecture to be part of this negotiated project to build for the clients a substantial home as stage 1 of the project with a future stage 2 commercial development in the wings subject to finance. We saw this as a great opportunity that Merlin Constructions would be proud to be part of.
The architect’s vision from the start had us engaged at Merlin Constructions utilizing charred timbers as claddings and obscure roof lines, the great design is an absolute credit to all involved in procuring this house. The client had specific requirements relating to functionality and the design flair and attention to detail approach gave this project the real wow factor.
This modern home sits on a flat block on a large allotment in the middle of Richmond. A real treat for us at Merlin. A Majority of our builds in the past 5 years have been built on a cliff face. The home is a statement with its modern exterior in contrast to the multiple heritage listed homes and church it finds itself surrounded by.
The construction uses a combination of structural steel, timber framing and large areas of glass. The crisp lines of this project were certainly the feature that stood out and sets this house above any other in the area. Added to these structural elements the use of elegant joinery, Tas Oak floors, sanitary and plumbing fixtures of the highest caliber and exquisite tiles, developed this house into a modern, cutting-edge home that we at Merlin Constructions are very proud of.
