tarremah steiner
school hall

The Tarremah Steiner School Hall highlights the ability of Merlin Constructions, to undertake and successfully complete a project of this size, degree of difficulty and complexity. At the design stage, Morrison and Breytenbach Architects, invited Merlin Constructions to provide advice on the practical elements of the proposed design and advice on the most economical and cost-effective methods of achieving this.

The Tarremah Steiner School Foundation was a recipient of a limited amount of Federal Government funding. The design brief was to provide them with:

  1. Buildings that are ‘Eco-friendly’, use sustainable materials, have a low environmental impact, energy efficient, conforming to the Steiner principles and in harmony with the existing buildings.
  2. A multi-purpose hall large enough to accommodate a full size basketball court, with a stage, entry/foyer, change rooms, commercial kitchen and storage facilities.
  3. A separate Music Room.
  4. A toilet block comprising of Male, Female and Disabled facilities.

The size of the main hall structure is approximately 42 mtrs long by 20 mtrs wide and 11 mtrs high. The total area of the buildings is 1,193 square meters. It is built almost entirely from plantation pine, including the internal walls and ceiling lining, and clad externally with macrocarpa pine.
